About this product

Numbers first, since that is how this catalog's readers shop. CZ's new DUTY 4.0 runs a refined SFDA trigger specified at 25±4 N, which works out to 5.6±0.9 lbs, with 9±1 mm of travel and a 4 mm reset. The barrel is 102 mm (4 in) and unthreaded. Overall length is 188 mm, width 33 mm. The slide is cut for direct-mount optics with no plate stack in between, and fixed sights are fitted from the factory.

What makes it a new generation rather than a facelift is the frame layout. The serialized part is an internal chassis; the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip around it is modular. The C compact (15+1, 17+1 with extended base plate, 770 g, 135 mm) and the F full-size (17+1, 19+1 extended, 780 g, 143 mm) share that chassis concept. MS models stack a manual thumb safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. CZ's MSRP is $729.

Pick the C when the gun has to disappear under a cover garment. It gives up two rounds to the full-size model (15+1 against 17+1) and about 8 mm of grip height, and in return it is 5.3 in (135 mm) tall and 27.2 oz (770 g) light.

What is new under the slide is the serialized modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the grip frame is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dot sights.

This is the version with a manual thumb safety. The three passive safeties (firing pin block, trigger safety, trigger-bar safety) are the same as on every DUTY; the lever is an extra for people who were trained on one or simply want one.

Who is it for: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new buyers who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

As with every serialized item in this catalog, the DUTY 4.0 is shipped to an FFL dealer of your choosing rather than to a residence. That dealer carries out the transfer and applies the regulations of the state where you take possession. Select a dealer you trust at checkout; if you are unsure whether they accept inbound handguns, confirm with them before placing the order.

Frequently asked questions

Is the DUTY 4.0 barrel threaded for a compensator or suppressor?
No. The 102 mm barrel ships without threads.
How many rounds does each DUTY 4.0 version hold?
The C compact holds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate. The F full-size holds 17+1, or 19+1 extended.
What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS?
Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
Does the manual safety change the trigger?
No. CZ rates the trigger the same on both versions: 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset.
